Poker Quiz #15The game is $15-30 Limit Hold'em.......You limp up front with the AT of Diamonds........Two players limp behind you and both blinds call......The flop comes A(h)K(h)2(c)......The big blind bets, you raise and one player calls behind you and the big blind calls.....The turn is the 2(d)...Once again the big blind bets....What do you consider/do?
Answer As with all poker questions the decision lies in the texture of the situation based on your opponents......If the player that bets will make that bet with an Ace and then fold to a raise, a raise is in order....However, I think that is unlikely as most players will call the raise...If he is a player that would virtually always checkraise a deuce...Then you should raise the pot in order to make the player behind you fold a flush draw or pay two bets to draw....There is also value in raising as the player behind might fold a split which would be a great result of your raise That said, the betting player likely has an Ace in which case you will split...If the player might be bluffing or would play a hand that contained a deuce (Keep in mind the deuce is NOT a heart...He may have a deuce with a flush draw)...Then calling would be a stronger play.....If you are just calling keep in mind the texture of the player behind you as his propensity to fold an Ace or a flush draw is important....The greater the value gained from the effect of the raise from player behind, the more risk you should be willing to take as far as the betting player in front Like most of these questions I do not give enough information in the question to definitively answer the question in one way....I do this on purpose to make you think about the game from a conceptual perspective..
